Ted joined the 4th Gillingham Sea Scouts in October 1966 ..... and stayed a member until 1976
Ted receiving a prize for canoeing at the County Regatta Folkestone 1969 ?
The Medway at Gillingham Strand, hours, weeks almost years spent on and in the water both in the pool and on the river
The "Boat Pound" at the Strand... at one time home for 7 Mirror dinghies and lots of Canoes and other boats Views of the River from the Causeway. Oi! Medway Council...... the Causeway is in an appalling condition get it repaired!!!
When I was a lad there was a "Tall Ship" moored here... these pictures were taken at Upnor, about 2 miles up stream of the Strand .... The Training Ship Arethusa. As well as canoeing and sailing past her we used to use their swimming pool too. Parts of the old Chatham Dockyard (which had a pool we used too) in the background
Canoes at Longridge on the Thames .. a generic shot .... I hope to catch up with Fitz or Mike to see if they have any real pictures of the lads
Ah now Marlow Weir & it's in flood! That takes me back to a silly evening in October time probably about 1973, in racing canoes rather than slalom boats! Whoa what a ride that was!!! Very Silly!!
