Ted and
Hun (the Buns) would like to extend a very warm welcome to you
as you arrive at the gate to the wonderful world of the Quinta
da Horta. We came for a visit and liked what we found so much we
decided to take over the running of this delightful idyll.
Staying at
the Quinta da Horta is probably a very different kind of holiday
for most people. Most of our guests choose not to wear clothes
for much of their time here. Whether they are in or around the
pool, walking or sunbathing in the gardens, having a drink or
meal with friends they simply choose not to wear clothes. On the
other had we respect that a guest may choose to wear clothes at
anytime. We believe that the essence of the Quinta is the
feeling of a shared community that develops after a very short
time with us. Whether you come as a couple, group of friends, a
family or on your own, we're sure you'll soon experience the
feeling that you're relaxing with a group of friends in the sun.
The option
to travel with fewer clothes inspired us to think about what
else you could leave out of your suitcase and we think we can
now offer a complete holiday experience to guests who travel
with just hand luggage. Which not only benefits you financially,
but eases the stress of passing through the airport and reduces
your holidays carbon footprint.
We must
stress this is not a luxury resort hotel, just a small,
traditional Portuguese farmstead where we entertain a limited
number of guests, where we still grow fruit and vegetables for
the table. where we try to keep our environmental impact to a
minimum. As a result, even with all our efforts to keep the
place clean and tidy, the grounds get dry and dusty in high
summer. So if you are looking for luxury and sophistication, we
are, sadly, perhaps not for you.
It seems
like only yesterday we walked through the gate of the Quinta da
Horta and went "Wow!" fell in love with the place and took it
on. We have worked hard to restore it to it's former glory as
the place to be naked in the sun. We are getting there and would
love to share what we have here with you even if only for a few
days.
