One of our correspondents has gone further afield than the Buns have ever managed ... Here is Barry's report to us in his own words and pictures .. Thank you Barry!

I have recently returned from a trip to NZ and was able too get some sun as it was end of summer. 

The photos attached are of Waitata Bay, aka Donkey Bay, at Russell at the north of North Island. It is easily reached on foot from the car park at Long Beach and is secluded and perfect. The sea was warm and gentle. The days we were there the beach was almost deserted, but the folks who were their were friendly. Nice mix of M and F with no "Meer cats" in sight. We also tried Uretiti and Takapuna but no photos I'm sorry to say. Pekapeka looked great but on the day we were there it poured and was cold!
