Between Los Abrigos and El Moderna and close to the South Airport. A
large expanse of gritty sand. The area around the foot of the mountain
is where most of the nudists gather. There is another small beach (Red
Mountain) just beyond the rocks that was also nudist. The main beach was so nice we stayed all week.
(That was 2005 ... we went back for week in 2006 as well!) The
bar does nice rolls too.
While most of the naked people congregate around the Red Mountain end
of the beach everyone seemed quite relaxed about nudist strolling along
the full length of the beach, about a mile each way.
This beautiful remote beach is under threat from a proposed deep
water port (that's tankers and containers not yachts) the authorities
want to build in the bay. The EC is currently undertaking an
Environmental Impact Assessment but the Government appears to think this
will give the go ahead and announced money for the project (October
2006) along with the expansion of the nearby airport. Local campaigners
against the port will need all the help they can get to protect this
area from development.
