The Quinta da Horta is one of the longest established naturist (clothing optional) venues in Portugal. It is situated on the outskirts of Ferragudo about 60km from Faro Airport.

The Buns made a flying visit for the the "Rude Food" event (more like "Gude Food") in October 2010, nice warm and sunny it was too!

Built in a quirky manner around a 200 year old farm accommodation is in individual buildings that are built to resemble farm out houses.

Bay Cottage for example

It has a pool and plenty of gardens and patios for sunning the buns, which we are informed by other guest are often almost deserted during the middle of the day as guest head out to the beaches. Leaving the Quinta a quiet and peaceful place by day.

Evening meals are available on selected days and are served around a large table either near the pool or in the house and provide an opportunity to compare notes and share the discoveries of the day with your fellow guests. Otherwise there are a huge number of restaurants and bars in Ferragudo, Lagoa and nearby Portimao.

And we are reliably informed that a spot of nude sunbathing can take place on the nearby Ferragudo Grand Beach outside of peak times.. and we walked there!! Plenty of bars in the area just behind me when I took the picture too.

That you would complain about not having a full time nude beach on the door step .. with all the other Algarve Beaches mentioned on this site being within an hours drive.

Plus we felt that the Quinta's view that it is a clothing optional venue means that it is an ideal place for the shy partner to relax without pressure to bare all and discover the joys of sunning the buns at their own pace in quiet and secluded surroundings.
